During the end-of-year celebrations, the windows of the department stores come alive, the streets are illuminated and the castles are bathed in light. There are huge fir trees, garlands and fairytale decorations to discover, so make the most of the dark and admire the garlands and glittering decorations that reveal the exceptional beauty of the City of Lights. In this year like no other, Christmas has brought its magic all the same. To celebrate the festive season in style, Paris is decorating its most beautiful attractions, adding enchantment to your evening strolls. Don’t miss the must-see Avenue des Champs-Elysées and its glittering red lights, the ultra-chic Avenue Montaigne and Place Vendôme, and the historic district of Saint-Germain-des-Prés.
To prolong the Christmas fairy tale, the City of Light illuminates the squares of the Town Hall, the Concorde and the Bastille with glittering forests and monumental projections throughout December. A show to make young and old dream!
A Christmas journey at the Galeries Lafayette
Outside the Boulevard Haussmann shop windows, climb aboard with Céleste the explorer for a journey around the world to discover fantastic lands and characters. Follow her plane as it tours the world, visiting snowy jungles, deserts and enchanting forests in search of wonderful animals. The magic continues inside the store where the traditional, glittering Grand Sapin Christmas tree spreads its branches under the glass dome, bedecked with decorations from all over the world.
And there’s entertainment, too, as children meet with Santa Claus to immortalise their encounter before embarking on an immersive experience themed on the Netflix film “Over the Moon”. And why not take part in the colouring workshop? Before you leave, hop over to the Christmas Shop in the store for a look at the baubles on the Great Christmas Tree.
Share Christmas at Printemps Haussmann
This year, every Printemps shop window depicts a family celebrating Christmas in a different setting: by the sea, in the snow or against a panoramic backdrop of the snowy roofs of the capital. In total, nine fantasy-filled tribes come to life amid music and magical lights. A magical and poetic moment to share with the family, reminding us of the joy that comes from celebrating Christmas with our loved ones.

An Italian Christmas at BHV Marais
To celebrate Christmas Day 2020, the Bazar de l’Hôtel de Ville store takes you on a journey across the Alps, transporting you into the splendours and warm atmosphere of Baroque Italy. The Rue de Rivoli shop windows come to life in the form of vignettes from old theatre scenes, where a wooden Pinocchio presents a real treasure of “made in Italy” gifts to be found in the store. There’s plenty to please young and old alike. Food specialities are also showcased, bringing a sunny touch to your festive table. Buon Natale at BHV Marais!
Beautiful Christmas tree at Bon Marché
This Christmas 2020, the famous department store on Paris’s Left Bank pays tribute to the “king of the forest” – the Christmas tree. Surrounded by snowy forests and glittering gold trees, it is the guest of honour for the animated shop windows on Rue de Sèvres, and is sure to delight children.
Wild Lights in Thoiry
Set out on a magical odyssey at the Thoiry Zoo Safari. At nightfall, the gardens and grounds of the castle come to life, transporting you into a dreamlike and poetic world populated with gigantic animals of light. More than 1000 lanterns are scattered around this enchanting adventure that combines real life and imagination to awaken dreams in children and their parents.
Vaux-le-Vicomte, illuminated
The castle of Vaux-le-Vicomte to the south-east of Paris is bedecked with a thousand lights to delight the whole family. Immerse yourself in a magical atmosphere as you admire the glittering facade of the castle, and stroll through the gardens decorated with garlands of light as an enchanting start to the festive atmosphere. And don’t miss the shop, where you can complete your purchases of Christmas gifts or pick up that perfect decoration for your Christmas tree. A truly royal Christmas!
