Get your day off to a good start with a trip to one of the city’s liveliest neighbourhoods: Oberkampf! Savour a café noisette on the sunny terrace of Café Charbon as you watch the city awake. A stone’s throw away, on a little shaded square, Le Mur Oberkampf regularly plays host to world-renowned street artists. Taking inspiration from advertising billboards, this wall is transformed into a spellbinding work of street art every month, before the very eyes of curious passers-by!

Next, head to the Belvédère de Belleville to admire a magnificent panoramic view of the City of Lights.

All around you, you will find mosaics, frescos, and mouldings by Gregos, as well as the iconic children Seth has painted on the pillars. Continue your tour by walking up Rue Piat to Place Fréhel, where Ben will offer you some previous advice.

On the way, make a stop at the bookshop Le Genre Urbain, whose shop front is inspired by the work of Invader, and check out the specialist collection on urban matters.

Next, head to Rue Dénoyez, where an explosion of colours and life awaits! Street artists flock here to express themselves, turning the street into a veritable open-air canvas.

Urban cultures on the canals of northern Paris

Perhaps by now your tummy is rumbling? At the Grand Marché Stalingrad, in an exceptional 18th-century building decorated with a plethora of plants, a Corsican enclave serves up pizzas, tapas and other Mediterranean dishes, all made with the finest of ingredients.

After lunch, make your way to artistic collaboration space Le Centquatre-Paris to explore the Paris region’s arts and culture scene. Then, check out the latest works of street art that have sprung up in Rue d’Aubervilliers and Avenue de Flandres. You might even see a Banksy! On Rue de l’Ourcq, you will find a giant section of wall packed with colourful graffiti of remarkable quality.

When the weather is hot, take advantage of the Eté du Canal summer festival to party, have a drink in a pop-up bar, dance to electro beats and set sail on a guided cruise of Street art Avenue, on the Canal Saint-Denis. Urban culture and street art are honoured on an urban trail, with local and international street artists such as Cyklop, Zest and Marko 93 doing live-paintings.
